Information on the Child-rearing Support Special Allowance

In light of the financial burden due to the economic recession, Child-rearing Support Special Allowance will be given in the fiscal year 2008 (i.e. until the end of March 2009) to households with two or more children (whose age falls within 3 years before entering elementary school).



Eligibility

As of base date, February 1, 2009, head of the families with eligible children who falls under 1 or 2:

1. Those who are registered on the Basic Resident Register of Okaya City.
2. Registered foreign residents of Okaya City (Illegal immigrants and short-term residents are not eligible.)



Children who are eligible for the benefit

Second child (and succeeding ones) born between April 2, 2002 and April 1, 2005.

Note: Second child is defined as the succeeding child after the first one who was born not earlier than April 2, 1990.



Amount to be received

36,000 yen per eligible child



Payment method

In principle, the amount will be deposited to the bank/post-office account on the basis of the application submitted by the head of the family. The procedure for application and other details will be sent separately.



Others

- Representatives of the national and local government will never ask about "ATM-related transaction" or "bank transfer of processing fees" for the Child-rearing Support Special Allowance. Be aware of bank transfer scams and exploitation of personal information.

- The Basic Resident Register is needed not only for the special allowance but also for availing various government services. For this reason, you need to report any changes in the register to the city hall.
