As the birthplace of modern skating and because it trains many athletes who take part in international games like the Olympics, Okaya is known as a skating city. The Yamabiko Skating Complex is a Mecca for skating in Okaya. The facility is fully equipped with an outdoor 400 meter rink (Okaya Yamabiko International Skating Center), the ice arena's 2 official international rinks, a training room and log cottage accommodation. With equipment such as a pace control system and a movement image analysis system, they provide a world-class facility. Of course, professional and amateur skaters alike are welcome.
